The earthquake's epicenter was in the Ritak area of Sankhuwasabha district at 7:31 am.

Sankhuwasabha is located 475 km east of the capital Kathmandu.

Tremors were also felt in neighboring Taplejung and Bhojpur districts, with no immediate damage reported.
