Bangladesh Parliament Unanimously Elects Hafizuddin Ahmed as Speaker, Kayser Kamal as Deputy

Bangladesh's Jatiya Sangsad unanimously elected Hafizuddin Ahmed, Bir Bikram, as Speaker and Barrister Kayser Kamal as Deputy Speaker.
•
The election took place during the inaugural session of the 13th Parliament, formed after the February 12 polls.
•
Hafizuddin Ahmed, a retired military officer and 'valiant freedom fighter', is a 6-time MP and former Minister for Liberation War Affairs.
•
Barrister Kayser Kamal, MP from Netrakona-1, is a young figure in national politics and BNP's legal affairs secretary.
•
President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the official oath to both officials in the presence of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
