Delhi Congress Demands Palam Fire Probe, Cites Delays & Fire Dept Shortages

Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav wrote to LG Taranjit Singh Sandhu, demanding a probe into the Palam fire incident that killed nine.
•
Yadav alleged that delayed emergency response and malfunctioning hydraulic machines worsened the tragedy.
•
He highlighted an acute shortage of manpower and equipment in the fire department, with only half the required water tenders available.
•
No Fire Station Officers have been recruited since 2012, leaving 70 stations with only 18 officers, 12 of whom are retiring soon.
•
The Palam fire claimed nine lives, including a 70-year-old woman and three young girls, in a four-storey residential building.
