Delhi to build 12 new STPs worth Rs 7,200 crore to clean Yamuna
•Delhi government plans 12 new sewage treatment plants (STPs) at an estimated cost of Rs 7,200 crore to clean the Yamuna river.
•Chief Minister Rekha Gupta highlighted Rs 9,000 crore allocated for Yamuna rejuvenation in the past year, part of a 45-point action plan.
•Initiatives include tapping large drains discharging waste into Yamuna and redirecting them to treatment facilities, with drone surveys completed.
•35 new decentralized STPs are planned at Rs 2,400 crore for areas with space constraints, focusing on the 22 km Yamuna stretch from Wazirabad to Okhla.
•Sewage treatment capacity increased from 700 MGD to 800 MGD in one year, with a target of 1,500 MGD; 28 of 37 STPs upgraded.
