Ex-Intel Chief Sallay Named Suspect in Sri Lanka Easter Bombings Probe

Suresh Sallay, Sri Lanka's former state intelligence service chief, named a suspect in the 2019 Easter bombings probe.
•
The police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) made the disclosure before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court.
•
Sallay was arrested on February 25 for questioning to trace the mastermind behind the coordinated suicide bombings.
•
The 2019 attacks killed over 270 people, including 11 Indians, carried out by National Thawheed Jamaat (NTJ) linked to ISIS.
•
Allegations of prior intelligence warnings, including from India, being ignored; current NPP government reopened probe in late 2024.
