India Grants Brazil Access to Traditional Knowledge Digital Library

•India and Brazil signed a cooperation agreement for Brazil to access India's Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (TKDL).
•The agreement allows the Brazilian Patent Office to use the TKDL database for patent examination and grant procedures.
•This initiative strengthens India's global efforts against biopiracy and misappropriation of traditional knowledge.
•The pact was signed during President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's visit and will be implemented by INPI, Brazil, and CSIR, India.
•TKDL, established in 2001, contains over 520,000 formulations from Indian medicine systems like Ayurveda, Unani, and Yoga.
