Japan's Cherry Blossom Season Begins Early in 3 Cities

•Japan's cherry blossom season officially started with first flowering confirmed in Kochi, Gifu, and Yamanashi.
•Japan Meteorological Agency announced the blooming of the Somei Yoshino variety benchmark trees.
•Kochi blossomed first for the third consecutive year, six days earlier than average.
•Gifu and Yamanashi also bloomed nine days earlier than their average.
•Early blooming attributed to low winter rainfall and longer sunshine hours, as per Shinobu Imoto.
•Sakura are culturally significant, but overtourism issues like littering and noise are concerns.
