Kerala Approves Universal Health Coverage Scheme for All Citizens

•Kerala government approved a Universal Health Coverage scheme to ensure health protection for all sections of society.
•The scheme targets individuals not covered by existing programs like Karunya Arogya Suraksha Padhathi (KASP), Karunya Benevolent Fund, and MEDISEP.
•Formulated after extensive discussions and studies, following directions from Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
•Expected to provide relief to lakhs of families currently without any treatment assistance program.
•Existing KASP covers 42 lakh families with up to Rs 5 lakh annually, while Karunya Benevolent Fund offers up to Rs 2 lakh for low-income families.
