•The bariatric clinic addresses obesity as a serious social problem linked to diabetes and high blood pressure.
•Patients with Ayushman cards can access the facility free of cost, a significant saving compared to private hospital costs of Rs 4-5 lakh.
•Gul Afshan, a patient, reported a weight reduction from 120 kg to 97 kg in 1.5 months post-surgery, improving her diabetes and fitness.
