Odisha Police Launches Operation to Nab Wanted Maoist Leader Sukru

Odisha Police has initiated an operation to apprehend Sukru, a wanted Maoist leader with a Rs 55 lakh reward.
•
Security forces are advancing into a dense forest at the trijunction of Kandhamal, Rayagada, and Kalahandi districts where Sukru is hiding.
•
Sukru, 49, from Malkangiri, leads a small group of 13 Maoists and is accused of obstructing surrenders.
•
He allegedly killed a junior, Anwesh, in January for attempting to surrender, burying his body with associates.
•
Sukru, a state committee member, is the most senior active Maoist in Odisha, with police optimistic about making the state Maoist-free by March 31.
