Rajasthan reports 21 custodial deaths in two years, government informs assembly

•Rajasthan government informed the assembly about 21 deaths in police custody between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2025.
•Eight custodial deaths were recorded in 2024, and 13 in 2025.
•Cases were registered and both judicial and administrative inquiries were ordered in all instances.
•Judicial inquiries found no police negligence in completed cases, except one where departmental inquiry was recommended.
•All deaths were attributed to natural causes or suicide; probe pending in nine cases from 2025.
