RBI Injects Rs 25,101 Cr into Banking System via 3-Day VRR Auction
•
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) injected Rs 25,101 crore into the banking system on Friday through a three-day variable rate repo (VRR) auction.
•
Funds were injected at cut-off and weighted average rates of 5.26 percent.
•
The injected amount was significantly lower than the notified Rs 75,000 crore, despite a sharp drop in surplus liquidity due to advance tax payments.
•
Lower subscription in the VRR auction suggests uneven liquidity distribution, with banks preferring the Standing Deposit Facility.
•
Banking system liquidity is estimated at a surplus of around Rs 16,875.36 crore as of March 19.
