RBI to Conduct Rs 20,000 Cr G-Sec Switch Auction on March 9
•
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced a switch auction of government securities (G-Secs) worth Rs 20,000 crore on March 9.
•
The auction aims to ease redemption pressure in the next financial year, when government bond maturities worth Rs 5.47 lakh crore are due.
•
Settlement for the auction will take place on March 10, 2026.
•
This is the fourth switch auction announced by the RBI since February; previous three auctions bought back Rs 98,591.701 crore.
•
Switch operations replace near-term maturing bonds with long-term instruments to smooth the maturity profile and manage repayment obligations.
