Sextortion Tragedy: Thane Man Dies by Suicide After Cyber Blackmail, Morphed Photos Threat
•A 45-year-old man, Hemant Dayashankar Pandey, died by suicide in Kalyan East, Thane district, due to a sextortion threat.
•Cyber criminals blackmailed him, threatening to circulate morphed obscene photographs on social media.
•The victim was forced to transfer large sums of money between April 2025 and January 2026, and was pressured to arrange Rs 2 lakh.
•His family stated that his inability to meet the escalating extortion demands led him to take the extreme step.
•A case has been registered against unidentified persons under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Information Technology Act, with a probe underway.
