Telangana's Debt Hits Rs 8 Lakh Crore by Dec 2025: Govt Report Reveals
•Telangana's total debt, including entities and government guarantees, reached Rs 8 lakh crore by December 2025.
•The Socio-Economic Outlook 2026 report highlights that from December 2023 to December 2025, the state and its entities borrowed Rs 3,19,179 crore.
•During the same period, Rs 3,04,202 crore was repaid towards principal and interest, with a large share of new borrowings used to service existing debt.
•The report attributes the increase in liabilities to massive legacy debt and the need to balance debt servicing with welfare and developmental spending.
•Telangana's GSDP for 2025-26 is estimated at Rs 17.82 lakh crore, growing at 10.7%, and its Per Capita Income reached Rs 4.19 lakh, significantly higher than the national average.
