Maharashtra Amends Land Code: Grazing Lands Now Open for Public Projects

•Maharashtra Land Revenue Code (Amendment) Bill passed, allowing grazing lands for public and public welfare works.
•Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule presented the bill, freeing thousands of hectares for development.
•Approximately 7,700 hectares in Municipal Corporations, 3,000 in Nagar Parishads, and 4,000 in Municipalities are now available.
•Lands can be used for schools, hospitals, parks, roads, and other basic amenities; commercial use is strictly prohibited.
•Ownership rights remain with the state government, but local bodies can use them with permission, accelerating urban development.
