Beware Fake Tax Notices: Income-tax Dept Warns Against Phishing Scams
•
Income-tax Department warns taxpayers about fraudulent emails claiming to be official notices for Assessment Year 2025–26.
•
Fake emails, also flagged by PIB Fact Check, ask recipients to click malicious links for "Assessment Orders" or e-PAN card downloads.
•
These phishing attempts aim to trick users into opening harmful links, downloading malware, or revealing sensitive personal information.
•
Verify all tax communications only via the official Income Tax e-Filing Portal; legitimate emails come from @incometax.gov.in.
•
Do not respond, click links, or open attachments; report suspicious emails to webmanager@incometax.gov.in.
