•India and the EU have concluded negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) that will reduce duties on expensive EU wines.
•Duties on wines priced above €10 will drop from 150% to 20% over seven years, while wines between €2.5 and €10 will see duties reduced to 30%.
•No duty concessions will be given for wines priced below €2.5 to protect domestic producers in regions like Nashik and Karnataka.
•Indian wines will gain preferential market access in the EU, with customs duties reduced to zero over 3-7 years.
•India has also secured duty-free access for 85,000 tonnes of fresh table grapes to the EU, a significant relief from the EU Entry Price System.
