India's Unemployment Rate Rises Marginally to 4.8% in December 2025
- •The overall unemployment rate (UR) for persons aged 15 and above increased slightly to 4.8% in December 2025 from 4.7% in November 2025.
- •Urban unemployment saw a rise to 6.7% from 6.5%, while rural unemployment remained stable at 3.9%.
- •Urban female unemployment moderated to 9.1% in December 2025, down from 9.3% in the previous month.
- •The Worker Population Ratio (WPR) showed gradual improvement, reaching 53.4% overall in December 2025.
