Dalit Couple Humiliated, Forced Out of Karnataka Temple; Accused Arrested

A newly married Dalit couple faced alleged humiliation and caste discrimination at Arasamma Temple in Goni village, Tumakuru district, Karnataka.

An upper-caste man, Narayanappa, allegedly pretended to be possessed and forced the couple to leave, shouting "Dalits cannot enter temple."
•
The incident, captured on video, led to a complaint filed by the victim, Jagadish, at Turuvekere Police Station.
•
An FIR has been registered under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against Narayanappa and six others.
•
Narayanappa has been arrested, and police ensured the couple's temple entry and rituals in a peace meeting.
