•The Karnataka Police (Amendment) Bill, 2026, empowers the Police Establishment Board (PEB) to transfer officers up to DySP rank before two-year tenure for misconduct.
•This police amendment aims to reduce political interference, expedite disciplinary action, and address irregularities and corruption.
•A report identified 93 taluks as "most backward," with 60% in North Karnataka, highlighting persistent regional disparities despite public spending.
