Japan Visa Rule Change: Mandatory Appointments for Indian Tourists from March 2026
•
From March 2, 2026, Indian tourists applying for a Japan visa at select VFS Global centers will require mandatory prior appointments.
•
The new rule applies to VFS centers in Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, Puducherry, and Bengaluru for all visa categories.
•
Each applicant, including family members, needs an individual online slot, and a confirmation email must be presented at the center.
•
The change aims to manage seasonal surges, regulate application volumes, reduce overcrowding, and enhance security.
•
Visa fees for Indian nationals are INR 450, and processing takes a minimum of 6 working days from submission at the Consulate General of Japan.
