A 13-month-old girl was brutally murdered and dismembered by her uncle in Gavlewadi, Tuljapur taluka, Dharashiv district.
•
The accused, Shankareswar Mane, committed the heinous act out of anger and a sense of dishonor after his sister-in-law eloped with her lover.
•
He strangled the child, cut her body into seven pieces with a sickle, and buried them in a canal to destroy evidence.
•
The crime came to light after an eyewitness reported seeing the uncle carrying the child in the early morning hours.
•
Police arrested Shankareswar Mane, who confessed to the crime, stating he suspected the child was not his brother's.
