Doctors' 6-Minute Race Saves Girl After Scarf Pin Lodges in Lung
•
A 16-year-old girl accidentally swallowed a 3.5-inch scarf pin, which lodged deep in her left lung.
•
The incident occurred in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar when she held the pin in her mouth while tying her scarf.
•
Doctors at Ghati Hospital's ENT department performed an urgent endoscopic removal, extracting the pin in just 6-7 minutes.
•
Failure to remove the pin endoscopically would have required a lobectomy (removal of a lung lobe).
•
Doctors warn against the dangerous habit of holding pins in the mouth, citing 8 similar incidents in three years.
