•Shashi Kapoor, born Balbir Raj Kapoor, was named 'Shashi' (moonbeam) by his mother due to his childhood fascination with the moon.
•He began his career as a child artist, appearing in 19 films, and was one of the first Indian actors to work internationally.
•Shashi Kapoor and his wife Jennifer founded Prithvi Theatre in Mumbai in 1978, now managed by their daughter Sanjana Kapoor.
•He appeared in 148 Bollywood films, including 53 lead roles, and established his own production company in 1980.
•Honored with the Padma Bhushan in 2011 and a Lifetime Achievement Award, he passed away at 79, reportedly struggling after his wife's death.
