Nilgai No More a Threat: Palamu Farmers Turn to Chia for Lakhs in Profit

Palamu farmers are shifting from traditional farming to chia seed cultivation due to the menace of nilgai.

Chia seeds are not damaged by nilgai, require less water, and yield over 1 lakh rupees profit per acre.

The Veer Kunwar Singh Krushak Sahakari Sahyog Samiti facilitated this shift, bringing seeds from Kanpur.
•
Chia seeds are a 'super fiber food' rich in fiber, omega-3, and essential nutrients, beneficial for digestion, cholesterol, and arthritis.
•
Following this year's success, there are plans to expand chia cultivation to 50 acres in the Hussaianabad area next year.
