Finance Minister Reveals Why BSNL Lagged in 4G, Blames Past Policies

•Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated BSNL's poor condition was due to years of weakening policies, not overnight issues.
•BSNL was denied funds for 4G earlier; received money 5 years ago to develop indigenous 4G technology.
•BSNL paid Rs 37,513 crore in license fees and spectrum charges, but only Rs 9,249 crore was reimbursed until 2005-06.
•In 2010, BSNL paid Rs 18,499 crore for 3G/BWA spectrum, depleting cash reserves, while private firms got better spectrum.
•Past decisions like cancelled tenders and delayed employee restructuring significantly impacted BSNL's market share and operations.
