BSE Shares Plunge as NSE CEO Predicts F&O Volume Decline Post-STT Hike

BSE shares closed near day's low after NSE CEO Ashishkumar Chauhan's comments on F&O volume decline.
•
Chauhan stated that more degrowth is likely in F&O volumes following the Securities Transaction Tax (STT) hike in April.
•
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman proposed raising STT on Futures to 0.05% and on options premium/exercise to 0.15%.
•
The STT hike aims to provide 'reasonable course correction' in the F&O segment and generate additional government revenue.
•
NSE has initiated the process for its IPO, inviting investment banks and law firms for pitches.
