CBSE Schools: Counselors and Wellness Teachers to be Separate, Land and Sports Ground Rules Also Changed
- •CBSE mandates separate roles for Counseling and Wellness Teachers to strengthen student mental health and career guidance.
- •One Counseling and Wellness Teacher (Socio-Economical Counselor) required for every 500 students (Class 1-12), needing psychology/social work degrees or school counseling diplomas.
- •A separate Career Counselor is mandatory for every 500 students up to Class 9 and 10, focusing on career, college, and course guidance.
- •New land requirements for schools: 6000 sq m for Senior Secondary in general areas, 2400-3200 sq m for Secondary in some cities, and 1600-2400 sq m in metros.
- •Mandatory 2000 sq m sports area for every school; agreement with nearby facilities is an option if space is insufficient.
Why It Matters: CBSE revamps school guidelines, separating counselor roles and updating land/sports ground requirements for holistic student development.
