Vishal Kumar, from Muzaffarpur, Bihar, overcame poverty and his father's early demise to secure AIR 484 in UPSC CSE 2021.

His mother, Reena Devi, raised the family by selling goat and buffalo milk after his father, Bikau Prasad, passed away in 2008.
•
A brilliant student, Vishal topped 10th grade, graduated from IIT Kanpur in 2017, and briefly worked at Reliance Industries.
•
His teacher, Gauri Shankar Ji, paid his UPSC coaching fees and provided accommodation, enabling him to focus solely on studies.
•
Vishal attributes his success to his mother's sacrifices and Gauri Shankar Ji's unwavering support and guidance.
