Bengal Defies Centre: Refuses to Release Two Officials for Deputation

West Bengal government (Nabanna) has refused the Centre's request to send two officials, Manish Mishra and C. Sudhakar, on central deputation.
•
The Union Home Ministry had sought former Darjeeling DM Manish Mishra and Siliguri Police Commissioner C. Sudhakar.
•
The request followed alleged security and protocol lapses during President Droupadi Murmu's visit to Siliguri on March 7.
•
Nabanna informed the Union Home Ministry by letter, stating the officials will not be released.
•
While the Union Home Ministry is the cadre controlling authority, the final decision on deputation largely rests with the state government.
