Gujarat High Court Shocked: Client Dead 11 Years, Case Still Heard for 37 Lakh Compensation

•Gujarat High Court discovered a client in a road accident compensation case had died 11 years ago, despite the case continuing.
•The court was about to deliver a verdict to increase compensation from Rs 10.44 lakh to Rs 37.24 lakh when the lawyer revealed the death.
•Justices Sangeeta Vishen and Nisha Thakor expressed strong displeasure over the 'unpleasant incident' of information concealment.
•The deceased, Makwana, was paralyzed in a 2003 accident and had appealed for higher compensation after the tribunal awarded Rs 10.44 lakh in 2012.
•The High Court ordered the inclusion of Makwana's legal heirs (two sons, two daughters) to receive the increased compensation.
