Husband's Gold Chain Demand, Harassment Drives Wife to Suicide in Ahmedabad

•A married woman in Ahmedabad committed suicide by hanging herself due to alleged instigation and harassment by her husband.
•The husband, Jaigovind alias Abhishek Shakya, constantly demanded a gold chain and taunted his wife, Shivani, about dowry.
•Despite receiving a bike and 2 lakh rupees in dowry, the husband refused to work and repeatedly assaulted Shivani.
•Shivani was also mentally harassed, her phone was confiscated, and she was prevented from speaking to her parents.
•Shivani, a mother of four, took her own life on February 22; her mother has filed a complaint, and police are investigating.
