Centre approves 3 rail projects worth Rs 9,072 crore, expanding network by 307 km

The Centre has approved three rail line expansion projects totaling Rs 9,072 crore, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
•
Projects include Gondia – Jabalpur Doubling, Punarakh - Kiul 3rd and 4th line, and Gamharia - Chandil 3rd and 4th line, adding 307 km to the network.
•
These projects will enhance connectivity for 5,407 villages across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand, benefiting 98 lakh people.
•
Aimed at easing congestion, improving operational efficiency, and boosting freight capacity by 52 MTPA for commodities like coal and steel.
•
Expected to reduce logistics costs, cut oil imports by 6 crore litres, and lower CO2 emissions by 30 crore kg, aligning with PM-Gati Shakti.
