Bratya Basu Slams CEC Gyanesh Kumar: 'Doesn't Know National Anthem from National Song'
•
West Bengal Education Minister Bratya Basu accused Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of confusing the National Anthem and National Song.
•
Basu's complaint arose from Kumar's press conference statement where he referred to 'Jana Gana Mana' as the 'National Song'.
•
Gyanesh Kumar, while addressing in Bengali, mentioned Rabindranath Tagore's National Anthem and Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay's 'Vande Mataram'.
•
Basu emphasized that a high constitutional officeholder should be aware of the distinction between the National Anthem and National Song.
•
The controversy follows recent Central guidelines for singing 'Vande Mataram' and a past 'Bankimda' remark in Parliament.
