FPIs Shift Focus: Increased Stakes in Suzlon, RBL Bank; Reduced in HAL, Varun Beverages
- •FPIs significantly increased stakes (100-700 bps) in AWL Agri Business, RBL Bank, Swiggy, Canara Bank, Bank of Maharashtra, Hindustan Copper, Aether Industries, Suzlon Energy, and Waaree Energies during Q3.
- •AWL Agri Business saw the largest FPI stake increase, rising 704 basis points to 21.15% in the December quarter.
- •FPIs reduced holdings by at least 100 basis points in Varun Beverages, Colgate-Palmolive (India), CAMS, HAL, and Five-Star Business Finance.
- •Overall, FPIs were net sellers of ₹11,766 crore in equities during the December quarter, despite being net buyers in October.
- •Foreign investors adopted a selective approach, favoring banking, energy, agri-business, and industrial stocks, while distancing from FMCG, defense, and some financial companies.
Why It Matters: FPIs adopted a highly selective investment strategy in Q3, increasing stakes in specific sectors while reducing others.
