India to acquire 5 more S-400 systems from Russia amid Mideast conflict; Pakistan trembles

•Defence Procurement Board approved the purchase of five additional S-400 air defense systems for the Indian Air Force from Russia.
•Decision comes amidst escalating conflicts in West Asia involving ballistic missiles and kamikaze drones, and ongoing tensions with Pakistan.
•The proposal will now move to the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) and then to the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) for final approval.
•India currently operates three S-400 systems, which proved effective against Pakistani missiles during Operation Sindoor.
•Last month, DAC also approved the acquisition of 288 S-400 missiles (120 short-range, 168 long-range) worth ₹10,000 crore to replenish expended stock.
