India to acquire Pantsir-S1: S-400's 'bodyguard' to combat drones, low-flying threats

•India places large order with Russia for 13 Pantsir-S1 units to counter small drones and low-flying threats.
•Pantsir-S1 is a hybrid system equipped with 12 missiles and two 30mm cannons, firing 5,000 rounds per minute.
•It acts as a close-range 'bodyguard' for the S-400, protecting it from cheaper, smaller threats like kamikaze drones.
•Features include a rapid 4-6 second reaction time, multi-targeting capability (tracks 20, engages 4), and shoot-and-scoot mobility.
•Initial units will be fast-tracked from Russia, with future production planned in India under 'Make in India' initiative.
