India's First Hydrogen Train Set to Launch Next Month: No Diesel, No Electricity!

India's first hydrogen train, running on water, is set to begin operations from next month (April).
•
The train will connect Jind and Panipat in Haryana, covering a 90 km distance.
•
Converted from a 1200 HP DEMU, it aims for Indian Railways' zero carbon target by 2030.
•
The Ministry of Railways has allocated over 1,500 crore rupees for this pilot project.
•
Initially, 35 hydrogen trains are planned for heritage and hill routes, costing 80 crore per train.
