Basbari Gets New Wagon POH Workshop: Northeast Freight Transport Boost
•Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for railway infrastructure projects in Kokrajhar, Assam, including a new Wagon Periodic Overhaul (POH) Workshop in Basbari.
•The Northeast Frontier Railway project, costing over 256 crore rupees, spans 669 acres and aims to strengthen freight wagon maintenance in the Northeast.
•The workshop will enhance repair capabilities, reduce turnaround time, improve operational efficiency, and create employment opportunities.
•Key infrastructure includes a 3000-meter fencing, G+2 administrative building, covered workshop shed, ROB, and advanced mechanical facilities like EOT cranes and CNC portal wheel lathes.
•The project aligns with the 'Memorandum of Settlement' for Bodoland Territorial Region development and will bring socio-economic benefits to Basbari and Kokrajhar district.
