Indian Railways Powers 2,600 Stations with Solar, Targets Net Zero by 2030
•Indian Railways has installed solar panels at over 2,600 stations, workshops, and unused lands, generating approximately 898 megawatts of solar power.
•Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has achieved a total installed solar capacity of 31.890 MWp since 2011, with an additional 22.734 MWp added in FY 2025-26.
•Lumding (13.334 MWp) and Rangiya (8.941 MWp) divisions lead in solar capacity within NFR.
•Solar energy generation saves Indian Railways an average of 68.80 lakh rupees monthly, with 9.18 lakh units of electricity generated per month.
•Plans are underway to add an additional 19.14 MWp solar capacity, advancing Indian Railways' goal of net-zero emissions by 2030.
