Jodhpur's Midnight Crematorium Ritual: 100-Year-Old Women-Only Tradition Unveiled
•
Jodhpur observes a unique 100-year-old tradition where women perform midnight puja at the crematorium.
•
Known as Khemkushal, this ritual takes place annually on Sunday and Tuesday during Chaitra's bright fortnight.
•
Only women participate, offering goat's liver, grains, alcohol, and milk to Bhagwati and Bhairu Ji.
•
The puja, starting from Kumharia Kuan, aims to protect the neighborhood from untimely death and evil forces.
•
After the women return, men draw a protective 'Laxman Rekha' around the area using raw milk and alcohol.
