Suvarnarekha River, meaning 'Golden Line' in Sanskrit, is known as India's 'Golden River'.

It gets its name from the real gold particles found in its sand, though in very small quantities.

The rain-fed river flows 474 km through Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha, originating near Ranchi and directly merging into the Bay of Bengal.
