•A 10-year-old boy in China, Xiaohui, sued his father for using his Rs 10 lakh red packet savings for his remarriage ceremony.
•The savings, collected over several Lunar New Years, were deposited in a dedicated bank account by the father.
•After his parents' divorce, the father withdrew the entire amount and used it for his new wedding expenses.
•The court ruled that red packet money is the child's personal property and parents cannot use it for personal purposes.
•The father was ordered to repay the full 82,750 yuan, strengthening children's property rights under Chinese civil law.
