•Alok Kumar of Badaun consumed poison after his wife, Sushma Devi, did not return from her maternal home.
•Sushma Devi reportedly had an affair with her brother-in-law, Nawab Singh, even before her marriage to Alok a year ago.
•Alok went to bring Sushma back from her maternal home after Holi, but her in-laws misbehaved, and Nawab Singh threatened him.
•Troubled by the situation, Alok consumed a poisonous substance on his way back and collapsed at Mandi police outpost.
•He is currently undergoing treatment at the district hospital, and his family alleges Nawab Singh's affair with Sushma.
