IIT Kanpur Launches PMKVY 4.0 Machinist Course, Empowering Youth for Industry

•IIT Kanpur initiated the "Assistant Machinist – Iron and Steel" skill training program under PMKVY 4.0 at its Imaginarium Lab.
•The 420-hour, 70-day practical course aims to address India's skilled labor shortage in the manufacturing sector.
•Training covers Precision Manufacturing Systems, Additive/Subtractive Machining, and Traditional/Advanced Metal Cutting Techniques.
•40 youth from Kanpur registered in the first phase; the institute plans to train 360 students to build a skilled workforce.
•Future plans include launching advanced courses like "Cobots Engineer" and "Advanced Mechatronics Engineer" in Robotics and Automation.
