Kanpur Expedites 'No Mapping' Voter Cases, Resolves 35,000 Under SIR

  • Kanpur district is expediting hearings for 'no mapping' voter cases as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign to update the electoral roll.
  • Approximately 35,000 cases have been resolved, with continuous action on remaining cases across 10 assembly constituencies.
  • Assistant and Electoral Registration Officers are conducting hearings, allowing voters to present documents and statements; a second chance is offered for those who missed the first hearing.
  • Voters can present any of 13 valid documents, including government IDs, birth certificates, passports, and caste certificates, to rectify electoral roll errors.
  • A special Booth Day on January 31 will see Booth Level Officers at all 3770 booths to resolve issues; final electoral roll with 26 lakh voters to be published on March 6, 2026.

Why It Matters: Kanpur is actively purifying its electoral roll by resolving 35,000 'no mapping' cases and ensuring voter inclusion.
