Kanpur's 'Gas Lockdown': 1.5 Lakh Connections Blocked, e-KYC Now Mandatory

•1.5 lakh domestic gas connections in Kanpur have been deactivated due to non-usage for 9 months or more.
•Consumers affected by the block will now need to complete e-KYC to reactivate their gas connections.
•The action was taken after identifying inactive connections from Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum records.
•District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh confirmed the deactivation and the e-KYC requirement for reactivation.
•Authorities are also scrutinizing dual users of domestic LPG and PNG, considering limitations on such usage.
