Kanpur's 'Gas Lockdown': 1.5 Lakh Connections Blocked, e-KYC Now Mandatory

1.5 lakh domestic gas connections in Kanpur have been deactivated due to non-usage for 9 months or more.
•
Consumers affected by the block will now need to complete e-KYC to reactivate their gas connections.
•
The action was taken after identifying inactive connections from Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum records.
•
District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh confirmed the deactivation and the e-KYC requirement for reactivation.
•
Authorities are also scrutinizing dual users of domestic LPG and PNG, considering limitations on such usage.
