Grow Makhana, Get ₹40,000 Subsidy: UP Govt Boosts Cultivation in Mau

•Government offers ₹40,000 per hectare subsidy for Makhana cultivation under the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission Scheme.
•The scheme targets 10 hectares in Mau district, Uttar Pradesh, to promote Makhana as a superfood with high global demand.
•Subsidy covers seeds and pond cleaning, directly transferred to farmers' accounts via DBT.
•Horticulture Department provides technical training, connecting farmers with successful cultivators in Chandauli, Kushinagar, and Darbhanga (Bihar).
•Makhana cultivation is suitable in 3-5 feet deep ponds or water-filled fields; sowing is from February to March, taking 6-8 months.
