Pilibhit Launches 'Elephant & Leopard Friends' to Curb Human-Animal Conflict

Pilibhit Forest Division expands 'Tiger Friends' success with new 'Elephant Friends' and 'Leopard Friends' programs.
•
Aims to reduce human-animal conflict, especially in Mala and Marori regions, due to increased elephant and leopard activity.
•
'Friends' will inform Forest Dept. and villagers about animal presence, advise on safety, and facilitate compensation.
•
Specialized training, monitoring equipment, and B-fencing (using beehives) will be implemented to deter elephants.
•
Goal is to protect both humans and animals, preventing elephant deaths from electric wires and water pumps.
